Best Looks At the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

The 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show took place at Pier 94 on November 8th. It featured a collaboration with Mary Katrantzou, a London-based designer who is known as the “Queen of Prints” for her eccentric flowers and hypnotic geometric patterns. She told the press that she “think[s] it’s the right time to work with a brand that is about celebrating women.” The models got all dolled up backstage with makeup by lead artist Charlotte Tilbury and hairstylist Anthony Turner. They focused on leaving the women with an undone, natural glow. However, some of the models were already returning with a different kind of glow.

Candice Swanepoel

Candice Swanepoel

Would you believe me if I told you Candice Swanepowel had a baby just five months before walking the runway? 30-year-old South African supermodel gave birth to her son, Ariel with her fiance, Hermann Nicoli in June. Her high-wasted corset bottoms sure aren’t revealing any evidence to that as she is in better shape than ever.

Kendall Jenner

After taking a year off from the annual show, 23-year-old Kendall Jenner has returned to the runway. When asked which sister she would want to walk down the runway with, she couldn’t decide. “All of them. Every single one of them.”

Romee Strijd

For Romee Strijd’s fifth appearance in the show, she made an entrance. Romee wore this year’s “Shooting Star” Swarovski outfit. Her wings weighed in at 27 pounds and had over 125,000 crystals adorning it.

Winnie Harlow

Winnie Harlow made history as being the first woman with vitiligo to walk the runway.  She said backstage that she was “happy to be trailblazing today and showing some diversity.”

Gigi Hadid

After making the decision to not participate in the event last year, the forever-favorite, Gigi Hadid, is back–and she brought friends! Gigi was joined on the catwalk with her sister, Bella Hadid, who watched for her famous boyfriend, The Weeknd, cheering in the crowd.

Kelsey Merritt

21-year-old newcomer, Kelsey Merritt, made her mark in history this year as being the first Filipino to ever walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. “Growing up, I’ve been watching this show and it always made me feel like I was beautiful, too. I would watch these girls and I felt empowered. One day, I always told myself, I would love to be one of them–not just a model, but as a woman,” she told the press.

Elsa Hosk

Swedish model, Elsa Hosk, wore the million-dollar Fantasy Bra this year and said backstage that it was a “an honour, dream come true.” The bra was made with 100% Swarovski Created Diamonds (over 2,100) and responsibly sourced topaz. It also has a 71-carat centerpiece set in a silver sterling Dream Angels bra silhouette, which took over 930 hours to make. For the first time ever, Victoria’s Secret will be selling a bra that looks similar to this one in select stores and online for $250.

Gizele Oliveira

Gizele Oliveira

You may remember Brazilian Gizele Oliveira as the gracious angel who helped Ming Xi up after a fall in Shanghai at the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Now, at her second year on the VS runway, her grace has not skipped a beat. How does she do it? Gizele told the press that “Normally I don’t eat any meat, I’m a pescatarian so only fish and vegetables. The only thing I cut out was pasta and trying not to eat much bread as well. But I am still eating pizza!”

Lais Ribiero

28-year-old, Lais Ribiero, wore two eye-catching outfits on the runway this year. Though they may not be as spectacular as the 2 million dollar bra she got to wear in the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, there was not a single person not watching her as she strut by.

Jourdana Philips

Jourdana Philips had some major anxiety before the show, she revealed. “Twenty-four hours before each VS Show, I have a complete existential crisis,” she told The Cut. Jourdana is known for being the first woman to sport her natural hair on the runway.

Mayowa Nicholas

Nigerian model, Mayowa Nicholas, was not able to attend last year, but completely stole the show this year. She posted on Instagram after saying, “To all the girls reading this, I hope you feel represented and know that your dreams are valid as long as you’re alive and ready to work hard in achieving them.”

Adriana Lima

The longest serving angel, Adriana Lima, was tearful as she hit the runway for the very last time in her 18th walk. She was grateful for Victoria’s Secret and wrote, “Dear Victoria, Thank you for showing me the world, sharing your secrets, and most importantly not just giving wings, but teaching me to fly.”
